Is it safe to leave the fry with the parents? If so, for about how long? Every time I have moved the fry in the past, none have lived beyond a week or two.

they are flowerhorns. The male is a JK and the female is a red warrior. Neither are guarding the fry, though they are the only fish in the tank so this may be why.
so far i've only successfully had red jewels spawn, which from what i understand is almost as difficult as having convicts spawn..
but because they are in a community tank and i never see the eggs, when the fry are free swimming their parents take very good care of them, but just can't be everywhere all of the time. so as soon as i see a herd of free swimming fry i suction them out and put them in a 10 gallon aquarium that i keep up and running and cycled with one or two other fish in it all the time.
if i don't have a tank set up for the fry i leave them with the parents and they all get picked off eventually by the other fish in the tank and it takes the parents a little longer before they spawn again.
A good Idea that not enough people try is seperate the fry. Leave half in the original tank and move the other half to a new tank. Therefore it's not an all or nothing type of deal. Do this and then find out what works. Also, moving the fry shouldn't kill them. You should study your fry setup and see what killed them.
Moving them did not kill them. They lived for a few weeks. I believe the frozen cyclopeez was too large for them to feed on. I am now using baby brine and powdered cylopeez. Thanks for your suggestions.
danz, nope.. i can't say that at all.. i suction out about every other, sometimes every 3rd spawn, and she raises the rest, that all get eaten by other fish in the tank. Though one of my other male red jewels paid the ultimate price for eating her babies the other day..
