OK....so I'm out in the laundry room checking the 55gallon right...

This tank by the way is intended to grow out our 45 syndonis petricolas and the 8 Red Jewel's we picked up to grow out and form breeding pairs. Two of the Jewels got really bright colors in the last week or so but I never figured them for a pair, or even thaught that at 3.5 inches any of them where old enough to spawn.

Seems like I was wrong...because the brightly colored pair where busy chasing all of the other fish in the tank away from a cloud of free swimming fry.

The picture is crappy but the batteries died in the camera after that one shot. I'll try to get a better one tommorow. Anyway thats the smaller of the pair...(mom I'm assuming) looking out over the babies on the rusted car ornament while the little fry...(you have to look REALLY closely at the gravil and the car to see them but trust me..there are a LOT of them.) go after the baby brine shrimp I tossed in.

Breeding Jewels. Syn. P's and True Green Terriors always WAS the plan but we had differant arrangements in mind. I'll be moving this pair to a 29 gallon of thier own soon... set up as much like this tank as possible.

I'm looking really hard, but I can't see them. Guess I'll have to wait til you get more pics!
Nice fish, wouldn't mind breeding those myself, hope the fry make it.

I still don't have any more pictures but the fry seem to be doing well and mom and dad are doing a great job of keeping the others away from them. They seem to be eating the powdered dry food... (took some small pellets and ran them through an extra coffee grinder we have...LOL) ... I'll pick up some baby brine shrimp in the morning. I seem to have misplaced the charger to the stupid camera.

Yet another pictureless update... I seem to have fewer fry than before but they have visably grown. I'm giving a lot of thaught to setting up a fry tank and catching as many as I can. I'll be rearanging the tanks shortly and I can give this pair a 29 gallon of thier own. The TGT's that are in the tank at the moment are rapidly outgrowing it and are destined for one of the 4 footers VERY soon. The baby tems will probubly move up as well. I'll leave the rest of the red Jewels in place in the hopes others will form breeding pairs.

You can give the fry a seperate tank of their own if you want to raise them.Otherwise the parents will eat them if they decide to spawn again.

I moved the fry to a tank of thier own..there are only about 20 or so left...The Syn P's kept picking them off in spite of mom and dads best efforts. I moved the pair to the 29 and within 3 hours of doing so...two of the other Jewels in the 55 began chasing the other fish and coloring up. This morning they are as bright as the other pair. Looks like I need to hit Ocean Blue for 2 or 3 of those divided breeder tanks they have on sale...
