There are a lot of things that you could feed. Just keep it off the feeder fish. I would try like chopped up earthworms, smelt, shrimp, squid, krill, or like live black worms or something. You could use like hikari carnivore pellets or shinking shrimp pellets too if you wanted.

Feeders can carry a lot of diseses and petstores don't take to good of care of their feeder fish. Plus if you feed them when the RTC is little he might not accept anything else when it gets bigger. Plus feeders aren't that healty a main diet for a fish. You can though feed them as a treat if you want but I would quarintine them for a while, like at least 3 weeks.

When I had pike cichlids a had two 20gl quarintine tanks for feeders and I would buy like 40 for each tank. I had plenty of filtration, more than needed and I would feed them every day. In like the first 3 days of haveing the feeders like 20 out of 80 would die on average. That is not just from one store either. I tried feeders from like 5 different store around me and I got pretty much the same result.

Just my 2 cents on feeders.

they'll almost anything try maket shrimp, beefheart, krill, nightcrawlers, bloodworms, ect, ect

I have never seen any RTC that was willing to let any meaty food pass them by. At 2", I fed mine frozen plankon which came in cubes. I really liked the plankton because the cubes would stay together even when thawed. One cube would give him a nice round belly. But really any meaty food will be relished by your little baby.

i want a rtc but cant find any small ones for a good price around here

They'll eat anything that's protein. Try frozen bloodworms and brine shrmip, live black worms, ghost shrimp, there are a lot of choices.
