Baby Red Tail cat

red tails seem to grow no matter how much or little you feed them, and they eat ANYTHING that fits in their mouth. that includes tankmates.

don't know what size tank you've got him in, or what his tankmates are.. just be warned.. they grow amazingly fast when they are young but slow down around 12 inches.. and they apparently get to about 5 ft in the wild, but not quite that big in captivity. so you're going to need a big tank sooner rather than later.

Just trying to get some food into him, didn't know whether sinking carnivore food, shrimp pellets, or flake right now?
 
probably doesn't matter, they will eat what they eat.. we didn't even see our redtail for the first 6 months.. she was holed up in the castle ornament and wouldn't come out, never saw what she ate, but she grew by leaps and bounds. Now she doesn't fit in the castle and has moved to a tank with fewer ornaments.
 
Sounds good, I was worried cuz I have not seen him actively feed, but if yours hid for a while, I guess nothing to worry about..
 
what size tank do you have? i just read the post I must of missed it?
 
Lucy...(the RTC in my avitar) was slightly over an inch long when we got her. I was convinced that she would NEVER manage to grow as fast or reach the size of my wifes Pbass...
 
Bloodworms. My rtc was a picky eater at that size too. :]
