i was thinking of getting a baby red tailed boa and i am looking for any info about them since my basilisk has uncureable probs sadly:( so he wont last long so i will have the 60 gallon empty and was wondering if my 75 watt heat bulb and my uvb light would keep one warm and would the baby boa eat pinkies or crickets at first

sorry to hear about your basilisk, a 60 gallon tank will be too large for a baby and too small for an adult, especially a female. the 75watt heat bulb should be enough to keep the tank warm enough, you need to make sure you have thermometers and hydrometers to make sure its warm enough (90-95 for basking area and 82-90 for the rest of the enclosure) and to also make sure you have high enough humidity for a red tail boa. the uvb bulb is not necessary for a boa. you will also need a separate tank/enclosure for feeding it in and to hold it daily to keep it calm and docile. if you really want a snake i think a ball python would be much more suited for a 65gallon tank. although i would get a species of turtle or another type of lizard if i were you since you already have a uvb.

Like its been mentioned above it will be too big for a baby as the space will make them feel nervous and increase the risk of it being agressive, but it will be too small for an adult. You could use the bulb for heating but ive always prefered heat pads. Also a youngster will do best on Pinky mice but progres up foods quickly.
