I recently purchased 5 baby redbellie piranha, about 1-2 inch, they are in a 30 gallon tank right now, I have been feeding them flakes and bloodworms, pellets etc... I decided to throw in a chunk of raw shrimp which of course they dove on with ferocity, the problem is one of them took a chunk out of the other and they were pretty freaked out all that night, then by morning another one had a chunk out of it in the same spot, on the back behind the head, soooo.... I havent given them any since then, they seem fine together with the basic food, how will I ever be able to give them raw meat without them eating each other? thanks:WHOA::(

That is crazy the EXACT same thing happened to me. i feed mine frozen beef heart and other meaty things all the time, but as soon as i put raw shrimp in there the next day one of them was all beat up, chunk out of back and most of tail gone, so i haven't given it to them since then and all has been fine since. but if you want to try something meaty try frozen beef heart cubes. They should have them at your local fish store or petco and petsmart has it most of the time as well. Hope it all works out for you. By the way you will need a bigger tank very soon mine more than doubled in size in the first month.

I put them in a 150g tank shortly after that, and they eventually quit biting each other, I still have all 5 and they're doing great, so I guess the more they get the meat the less excited they are about it and they don't mistake each other for shrimp lol
