were those markings there when you got them or it is just like the light or something but it looks like they both have patterns or markings of some sort

Yeah, I thought that was kinda weird too. Those are markings that have gotten darker as they have aged.

I think those spots are part of the lateral lines of the senegal bichirs.

Im certainly interested in seeing what becomes of that mottling as they grow. I thought it was a shadow at first.
