I just bought a young silver aro. What are the best foods I should be feeding my young silver? Should I be training it to eat pellets? If so what is the best way to get it to eat pellets?

well, you're going to get a few different answers. I use Hikari Carnivore but get the Cichlid gold baby floating pellets, or if you get the bigger ones, break them and soak them. If the fish is healthy, fast it, up to 3 days is normal. Fresh prawn is good if you can get it to float and be really careful with size but baby crickets are great too. How many inches is your aro? What size tank? Is it a silver? Just curiosity. Welcome to MFK by the way.

I fed mine frozen bloodworm for the first few weeks. He practically doulbed in size in just 2 weeks.

Bet he is a cutie that small...Pellets are going to be the cheapest in the long run and Hikari floating carnivor pellets are balanced nutrition for your Aro. I'm feeding that as the foundation, then adding prawns, krill, crickets super worms , beefheart, and any flying insect that lands on the water...

right now a couple of oscars, 2 channel cats, a jaguar, and 2 jack dempseys, but I probably trade in to my lfs to make room for my aro.

you'll have to get rid of those channel cats sooner or later....it's easier to get rid of small ones, so keep that in mind:)
