One week ago I bought a baby spotted gar around 12 cm.

The problem is that it is only eating bloodworms. I've tried smelt, prawns, mussels, pellets but it will just chew them and then spit them out.

Will it be able to grow only on bloodworms? And if so how long will it take since it will be able to eat other food?

Currently it is on a 120 ltrs tank by itself and until it takes other food I will not be able to move him in the main tank.

Any help will be appreciated.

Keep offering the other foods because the Bloodworms won't be enough for the Spotted Gar to grow properly. Some members place food in Bloodworm juice prior to feeding.

How's your gar doing ATM?
Sorry for the late reply. I simply can't make my gar eat anything else except bloodworms.

Yesterday I put it in my big tank. Maybe it sees the other fish eating and realizes that it can eat other food too.

However, now I have to figure out a way how to feed it bloodworms on the big tank to ensure that it gets some food. It stays most of the time on the surface so if you know a way how to make bloodworms stay on the surface it would be appreciated ?
