I nursed my baby tig back from the brink of death. And he is doing well I just need him to eat yet. It's day 3 with him. I am doing blood worms. Is that a good starter food and how long till I should start to worry?

It is not unheard of for them to go 3 days to a weak if stressed or moved to a new tank.
Blood worms is a good idea depending on the size. Mine even at 17 inches will go out of his way to get at earth worms so I always have them on hand to feed him after any major tank changes.
another food to try would be haddock cut up into strips.
also are there tank mates and what kind?

could try hikari sinking carnivore pellets... mine love them.. but i got my first one at 4 inches and after a week of not eating i had to give him live food... what was he on before you got him? i would try that... sometimes on a moves it's better to just give them what that are used to until you get them nice and healthy and fat... and then try to break them to another food... i did it with all 3 i have... they were on live so i feed live until i felt they looked healthy then starve them and got them on pellets and fillets... goodluck

I fed mine nightcrawlers to get it to eat at first. Then moved onto peeled shrimp. Now I'm feeding it tilapia and massivore pellets. Don't worry about pellet training it at a young age, when it gets big it will eat everything. Mine is 17" now

Great thread. I just picked up a tig that is around 6". Very healthy. At the store they said he was eating feeder guppies. I assume he is being a successful hunter as after two days in my tank there are no more feeders and I doubt my stingray can catch the feeders but I could be wrong. I am also feeding ghost shrimp. Does anyone on here feed there small tigs ghost shrimp? People please keep your ideas about feeding these beautiful cats coming.

My tigrinus didn't eat for about 3 weeks (he was 8'') when I first put him in my tank. I've seen him eat a few things so far (nothing pelleted) but he is a HILARIOUSLY bad hunter. Like, I have to fend off other fish with tongs and target frozen silversides or whatever within an inch of his face WITHOUT scaring him off with said tongs.

By far the most gorgeous fish in my tank, though, so totally worth it. Dude grows like an inch a week (hyperbole but not far off), so I'm hoping he grows some bravery, too.

do not feed it prawn or shrimp at that size

hikari sinking carnivore until hes 12inch or feed salt foods prawn mussel shrimp cockle at your own risk

they can take 7-10 days to start feeding

feed at night and you may have problems getting food to him past the CL

at 3inch you maybe best off putting him in a breeding trap
