i just took a baby tiger oscar of off a friends hands coz he bit off more than he could chew, he had fin rot but is now recovering from that and his fins are on the mend, he has bashed himself up a bit by jumpin and meeting the cover of my aquarium, so he now has a couple of cuts on his head, i have been treating the water with tetramedica fungistop which worked for his fin rot problem! it says that fungistop can help with these cuts altough it doesnt look like its doing alot to be perfectly honest, i have been doing frequent water changes as i know this can help aswell! is there anything else i can do to maybe speed up the healing process? all responses are greatly appreciated thanks

Oscars are near on invincible, just keep up the water changes clean water is the most important factor. You could try melafix but personally after trying it a few times i think all it does is make the water smell nice. All you really need to do is keep the lighting low and frequent water changes. Good luck an post some pictures of the little guy.

No worries at all, hes a nice looking little guy. those little cuts are nothing to worry about. One thing youll learn about oscars is there tough and have one hell of a personality. Give it one or two weeks and hell be ripping up the plants in your tank and putting things to his liking. Have fun with him hell fast become a favourite fish.

he already is my favourite fish, he is a good looking fish, whenever i walk past the aquarium he follows me and tries begging for food, he got a huge apetite! im glad he will be ok as i wasnt sure if it them cuts on his head were HITH so i got a bit worried, i shall post more pics very soon once he's back in shape and destroying my aquarium lol, thanks again for the advice preston, i made the right decision in joining MFk and asking for advice. like my mum always said to me "if you dont ask you dont get"

thanks for the advice mintersmadness, how much salt? i dont want to over do it! will the salt affect the medication i have already treated the water with?

here i disaggree, no salt is needed, just pristine waterconditions and a varied diet.
but you O looks fine.
Mine bash their head from time to time, but that heals in no time.

What size is the tank? Judging from the pics he looks fine. I would stop the meds. Do weekly 50% wc and gravel vac, feed a good pellet as a staple diet NLS, Hakari Bio-Gold ect. I doubt if it has Hole in the Head so I wouldn't worry too much about that. He's a nice looking fish keep his environment clean and he'll live many happy years.

thanks for the feedback guys, i have been doing 30% water changes and gravel vac every 2 days, but the wound doesnt seem to be healing ( it doesnt look like it anyway), i have stopped medicating the water, i dunno what else i can do
