I ventured out today to the LFS and discovered that they had a TSN for 19.99. The tank that I put him in had an electric blue crayfish and my wife asked to make certain that he wouldn't eat the crawfish. I knew he wouldn't...he isn't near big enough at this point.

But in my stupidity...I didnt consider the crawfish grabbing him. My son saw it and called for me. I got there within seconds of it happening and knocked the crawfish off of him.

The crawfish had grabbed him near the towards the back and had him upside down. Now the little guy is sitting on the bottom in shock...:(

Any advice??

obviously u have to either buy another tank or return the poor TSN to the fish shop. theres now way that these two can co-exist now or in the future wen the TSN grows bigger. a choice has to be made but im afraid its not ure choice u shud be concerned about - moreso ure wife's haha. good luck ;) keep an eye on the tank

The crawfish has been moved to my feeder tank. He will get to snack on guppies and not harass my TSN. But I am wondering about the death grip that the crawfish had on my TSN...and If my TSN is going to make it...

They are tuff little guys as long as he did not get crushed by the crayfish's claws he should be fine.

I hope you are right. He has hid himself in some plants.

well hiding isnt unusual for catfish. just take a look at him and see whether he swims normally or if he starts eating...take sum pics perhaps??? we need more clues to be 100% sure...we dont read minds mate

:( He did not make it through the night. :(

The crawfish has forgotten that I am from Louisiana...and where I am from...he would be dinner.

Arrrgggggh. It aggravates me that I didn't think he would grab the TSN. Stupid mistake.

Not a stupid mistake just one that many people overlook. I have myself kept crayfish for 2 years in my tank with my fish without problem. I solved this by feeding him frozen minnows. One every night. He lived for 2 years and was about 7" long when he died. They are very aggressive hunters though and when hungry they will attack anything they can grab.

I have learned that crawdads, crayfish, fw lobsters...end up as food. Sorry about the tsn. the crawdad would've got it had the tsn been bigger.

During the spring I go and catch baby craws for my fish. Some of them actually end up surviving in the rocks til they are really big. I had a guppy that lived in the tank with my 36" hybrid for 4 months, and a crayfish that I am not sure is still in there or not, but I don't think so because I found one of his claws unless he molted.
