Pensacola
I’ve been out of the hobby for probably 10 years now. Well, im back boys! Have a new 220 setup in the living room and getting her cycled up. Now the problem...what the hell do I put in this thing. It’s been a minute. So many fish I want to own all over again!!! I have to order from one of our vendors because Pensacola Florida sucks and doesn’t have fish stores apparently. Lol. Anyways any suggestions on what to throw in would be nice. Hope to see some old faces!

You have to go with at least one catfish man, catfish are where it’s at. Perhaps a bolt catfish?

That’s not a bad suggestion. I def want a cat. I was leaning towards an rtc so it gives me a reason to get a bigger tank when it comes time to reason with the wife, but she thinks the rtc is ugly when it gets bigger. Lol

Welcome Back
So many things ways you can go
1st I’d decide on what size you wanna start with

But me personally
I’d get a nice cat , maybe a Lima shovelnose smaller and less likely to eat others
A nice arrowana maybe a black or albino or whatever fits the budget
last something in the middle like royal clown knifes or albino or , maybe a pack of Geos and red shoulder servums a few nice quality plecos

This is my taste at the moment
hope it helps get a few ideas going

You’re speaking right up my alley. My plan was an rtc, Arownna, royal clown but I couldn’t plan any further. Nice tank you have there! (Also I’ve considered dats or pcb again)

The rtc are fun to watch grow but As you know the 12 inch mark and they start becoming big mouths and big dumpers haha. I have 3 cats 1 rtc, I bulkhead ,1 Lima
I will the then end only keep the Lima the other my tanks a 300 so only taller thank yours I believe

dats are great also I forgot to write that also peacock bass are also nice but can end up running the tank so be cautious. I keep a albinos Oscar , carpintis few kkp To fill in the space
Maybe even a nice bichir

Tank is empty right now so a million and one ways you could go. Just depends on what floats your boat.
Personally, i would fill it with small(er) fish that would make the tank feel big, and could live in the tank long term. The three you listed won't be able to live in a 220 for very long, so unless a much larger tank is guaranteed in the near future, I would go another direction. If you're dedicated to a much larger tank or are prepared to do right by the fish and find them another home (which can be very hard to do), more power to ya.

Central american cichlids have always been my thing so that's probably what I'd stock it with. Would be a great size to attempt a CA community. And the fish still get some size to them, so you still get to have "big fish", without needing to install a public aquarium exhibit in your basement in a year or two.

Welcome back! Damn, you have been on this site almost as long as I have been alive. You're sitting with a blank template, looking forward to seeing what you do with it! Polypterus are great, totally not biased as the ancient fish moderator or anything
