Had one of these on Friday. I have a pinktail chal, and as you know they can be jumpy. Mine usually isn't that bad except in the morning when I turn on the lights...he's jumpier when the tank lights are off. Well Friday afternoon my wife walked past the tank to give our ferret a treat, and my chalceus absolutely flipped out. And he got himself in the corner, and when he turned around he'd hit the overflow box...well my wife moved and he finally got out of the corner, but he was swimming upside down, having these jerky spasms, and soon he was nose-down, not moving, just breathing. A bit later he was belly up. So I'm thinking, damn, I lost my chal. But I kept kind of peeking in on him (mainly so I could scoop him out when he died) and about 5 hours later I look over and he's right side up, hanging like he usually does. I was shocked, totally.
I'm not 100% sure if he's going to make it. He's really jumpy now, and he's scarred all to hell from bashing himself off of rocks, driftwood etc when he was spasming...but it looks like stuff that will heal.
Anyone else have any stories?
