Been doing a lot of thinking about my current stock and have decided to go back to cichlids. I am giving my CK, Arowana, TSN, and ARTC to a friend of mine in Albuquerque. Reason being that IMO the ARTC is drab and boring! And while the CK, Arowana, and TSN are attractive they do nothing for me. Just sit at the bottom and only move when there is food.

So I have decided to keep my Emperor and Peacock Bass who are 4 inches at the moment.
I was thinking of adding:
Red Oscar
Pike Cichlid
and not sure about the other cichlid.
What do you all think would be a suitable tankmate?
I was leaning towards Jaguar.

BTW I've decided to go back to cichlids due to their personality. Much more interactive and interesting to have.

What size tank? I would say hit up Umbeeking and get some of his new umbees:)

Right now a 240 gallon but have a 1032 gallon pond on standby. Absolutely love Umbee! Check out my Avatar :)

Yes, thank you:) that's the "General" my wild Rio Magdelana. And I saw your avatar, that's why I mentioned it;) Umbeeking has a new strain of Umbees that in my opinion blow the competition out the water. They're even better than the one in my avatar. I bought a pair from him and I think I ended up with two males lol can't really complain about that. I did make a thread about them and if you check it out you'll see what I mean and my large male was barely 6" in that video. Those guys are a must have!! I highly recommend that strain:) and in tanks that size they would be perfect.

Okay I'll pm him, thank you. BTW purchased a Jaguar yesterday and they get along fine. Feeding them brine shrimp and bloodworms at the moment.

Keep a close eye on it... I have found that in this hobby, anything is possible. That said, jaguars are WAY more aggressive than oscars, and this may or may not work long term. I hope you have a backup plan, in case it doesn't. You have a pretty big tank though.... so, might work. Good luck, and post pics soon!

Thanks for the heads up. Eventually they will be in a 1032 gallon pond so that should help curb aggression. I have had aggressive cichlids before. Last year tried something different and realized cichlids are so much cooler than anything else IMO. At one time I had a large Male Dovii and Umbee in my 240 gallon tank. Cichlids are a funny animal and no matter how much we plan or research you can get surprisingly good results or bad.
I have had Trimac, Festae, Dovii, Umbee, Jag, Peacock Bass, you name it I've had it at one time or another :)

Sounds good! Heck, man... you want to hear something crazy? I actually have 2 angels, living fat and happy, in a 125, with the likes of a JD pair (rehoming them tomorrow, though), oscar, GT, argentae, pearsi and bocourti.

NOBODY BOTHERS THEM IN THE LEAST.

I mean, these guys are not even slightly stressed. In fact, I just added the argentae last week... and the angels were chasing the argentae (things have settled down, and they have accepted him now)! This guy is about 5 inches long! LOL... I still cannot believe it, and it has been this way for several weeks now. They are totally ignored. Heck... I only even tried it at the suggestion of a guy I know who breeds angels like rabbits. I told him no way this is gonna work. He said try it... I might be surprised.

Needless to say... I am surprised.

So there you go... who knows what combos work in this hobby sometimes! LOL...

WOW! Angels with those-yeah goes back to what I said-you never know-lol. There is a guy who used to post here regularly-Terd Ferguson I believe-He had this amazing Parachromis Species tank. When he would list his stock I was like "There is no way that will work" Yet when I saw pics and videos his tank not only worked it was one of the nicest tanks I had ever seen.
