Originally got my big tank years ago to keep an oscar. Since that fish I have kept many species. Africans, Jags, Dovii, Pikes, RD, Midas and many others. Funny how I got more into the hobby I kind of avoided anything oscar in favor of other bigger badder more rare species. After reading a thread on here about how the Oscar is the most popular of the large cichlids I found myself thinking of my first big cichlid. Since I have purchased a 2" tiger oscar and I couldn't be happier there really is no other fish like them (should be fun for my toddler as they are so responsive). It feels good providing an optimum environment for a species that is so often mistreated. If like myself you have found that even the biggest, baddest, most exotic species can become same old same old give the old oscar a try you wont be disappointed.

Just did the same thing. lol I just wish they weren't so ugly looking.

I love my Oscars! If I could only keep one type of fish, I would choose them no questions asked.

They are definitely that! It is one of the things I love about my Oscars, they seem so interested with what you are doing walking around outside the tank! Mine greet me at feeding time too! However I have noticed that since two of mine have paired off (I think!) they have become slightly less concerned with me, has anyone else noticed this?

same thing happened to me a couple of months ago. Now I have several big rescues....
