The second one looks good. it has a good warranty. But only 28 minutes back up?? is that enough time? the the surge protectionis good.

i'vre been thinking about purchasing a back up generator.:D

whats the generator goin to do when your not home to start it?

anyway im super low budget
and the tanks arein my room
so its this or a 65 dollar acdc/battery air pump
which i think is priced way too high
 
don't go for that last one, you will be paying for things you don't need.

The 2nd one (only of the first list I looked at) isn't a UPS (uninterupted power supply) but an SPS (Switched power supply, both of these are usually sold as the exact same thing). The only difference is a UPS will always run off the battery, constantly recharging it and an SPS will run off the power supply until the power cuts off and switch. This is a big deal with servers since even a few milliseconds between the switch can really mess things up. If your filter shuts off for a few seconds even (wouldn't be a 1/10 of that in reality) it wouldn't matter. This is good because you can buy an SPS with a longer battery life for cheaper then a UPS with a shorter battery life.

Unless you drop some fat cash (or do some mad DIY to alter it to run with a deep cycle marine battery), you're only going to get like 20-60 min max.
