background of a tank causes peacock bass to change colours?

hi guys, i just got my 7 inch cichla temensis for a week, the first time i saw it it has very light colours with spots emerging from it's body, but after i put it in to my 4feet black coloured background tank, it's fin and dorsal fin seems to change into a darker colour and most of it's spots are gone. can somebody explain to me what is the cause and isit ok?

Most fish'll change color according to the background/substrate

If its still adjusting to its tank it may be stressed out. The colors will look washed out.

Once he settles in his spots and color should come back.

a black backround will usually enhance the colors of your fish where as a lighter color like blue will distort the color.
