As some may be aware, I will be setting up a new 90 today to house my RD. I will use PFS mixed with balck sand as the substrate and decorate with some drift wood and rocks. I'm also planning on 110 watts CP either 10,000K or 6,700K on top. My question is, what color background do you think would be the best to get the most out of his color? I have a background that is black on one side and dark blue at the bottom to a lighter blue gradation towards the top on the reverse.

i think here it is going to be a matter of preference, i always like to stick with the classic black background though, i think it shows the best colors (most contrast) on pretty much every fish

Yes agreed, and I always do black but I was woundering if anyone has done a blue with good results on an orange fish or would it wash him out?

I say definitely black. This is just my prefrence but I think black is the only one that looks nice. I would rather have no back ground than one of those blue ones you see at the LFS or those corny pattern ones. IMO

Black is my preference.I have also used a medium to dark green with good results.
