Would this be aquarium safe? i have a bunch of this leftover from a job site and i can make a background out of it in my 120. the pieces are 4.5" x 9"Capture+_2018-05-02-11-07-14.png 15252735256722109957245.jpg

Limestone has similar surface properties to cement. It is not pH inert to my understanding due to metal oxides. That doesn’t mean it’s deadly to fish but does mean it will interact with its environment and potentially cause pH swings. I am no expert but would not use it myself.

If you only plan on keeping fish that love mineral-rich, very hard water, such as tanganyikan or some central American cichlids, then go for it. Otherwise I wouldn't recommend it. It will make your water very hard.

Planning on stocking with 1 oscar, 1 polleni( i know about the different water requirements but the polleni has been raised in the same water as the oscar) and 2 blood parrots or 2 severums.

ph swings is what i am worried about. i don't know if it would make too much of a diffence if i do 75% water changes a week.

Actually large water changes increase the pH swing unless very consistent and large. There is still a swing regardless. If you already have hard water it may be a moot point but if soft, be very careful. Swings take place in soft water Much faster than in hard water.
