I got some bacteria house media and am up in the air on were to place it. Should I put the media into my overflow so water flows through it? Or place it in the sump where it would be submerged?

usually you want it after mechanical filtration so it does not get clogged up and reduce flow since you don't want to be cleaning it or messing with it often.
