Right to the point how long do u think the bacteria will last before dying without the filter running.... I m going to keep the fx5s filled so it wont dry.....

The reason for this is i have to do some work on my background for my 300 n the inlets n outlets are attached to the background.... The filters shouldnt be off for more then 12 hr.... Do you think i will be safe....

N also i will be running a really good powerhead in the tank to keep water moving... Also will run a air pump on the power head so oxygen will be also fine....

You will be fine for 12 hours.

It all comes down to the point that you have to do what you have to so. Just try to do it fast. Add some prime into the filter. At that time it's not too bad. I don't think anyone will know 100%. Water flow is always good can you drain it a little and throw an air stone in it? If it was me I would just go for it and not worry too much but I understand where your coming from.

how bout just leaving it on? run the hoses into a bucket with an airstone or something?

Ive encountered the same issue.

I took out the ceramic media from my xp4 and put it in a tupperware container and filled it w/ tank water. 24 hours later put it back in, 1 month later no spikes or any param changes.
