bacteria on pleco?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Ouch. That definitely doesn't look good. It's extremely hard to determine anything without a nice clear picture. It's super difficult to see any detail in your video. He shouldn't be that hard to get a still image of since he's a pleco and they are usually pretty still.

What size tank is he in again? Ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate readings? I know Trinidad Plecos get a white ring around their eye, but that's definitely not the case here. From the little I can see that looks pretty bad.

Ya we need a clearer picture to be able to tell what it is, but it doesnt look good

it happened overnight.im thinking injury.it looks like a bubble over his eye with ripped skin on part of it with a little blood in the corner...i moved him temporarily to the qt tank.i know the 10 with crap filter isnt enough for any fish but i dont want the convict if he did get at him some more. i talked to the lfs and they said they wouldnt take any ill fish and i asked if i left the 10 there if they could treat him and take him in and they said they could do that.the bad part is i go to work before they open and get off when they close and live pretty far from them..im expecting some alot of partial water changes or amquel+ i dont like to use.
friday is my day off.pooorrr pleco.
ill get a shot of him tomorrow it will be super easy in that 10 with only one thing to hide behind.

oh i almost forgot.
55 gallon
ph7.4
alk120
hardness300
nitrite 0
ammonia 0
nitrate 20

the temp in the day is 76 and 74 as the house cools at night. i know no swings,im getting the heater this weekend.

oh hes actually a norm.talked to the guy that sold me this stuff.

ummmh he has a big lego block thing in there right now hes hiding under and a little fake plant.i wasnt prepared for this as i spent all my money on that used 55gl,stand,gravel,filter,lights,live plants and other fish. any house hold items that can be used as hiding spots for a temporary home?.
i got an airstone in there as well and i keep my room pretty dark,i dont like the light and neither does my other nocturnal pets so i dont think the light should be a problem haha.
i dont have money to go out and get some meds til friday and friday hes going to the lfs to be quarantined and treated.i cant keep a pleco in a 55gl tank.
i dont think it is bacteria.ive been reading all about eye injuries and fish diseases. when i brought the fish home and watched em all there was no cloudy eyes or bubble that got bigger.there was 8hours between the time he had nothing wrong to full blown busted looking eye.and theres the other thing,he kept sharing a hiding spot with my convict.the guy i bought the tank from didnt have a big hiding spot that i little pleco could call home.just some live plants and fake plants and little hiding spots for little fish.
im guessing convict got territorial and scared pleco off and pleco sustained an injury to his eye evading mini monster Doc Holiday.sound possible?
the water up here in my room where the tank is at is a constant 78degrees.
freshwater salt help any?
i cant get a good pic apparently my phone is just stupid when it comes to focusing through glass and it doesnt zoom in.
poor lil pleco.

With time, the fin will heal. You may want to try a little salt (I personally don't use it unless I know exactly what is the problem).
As for household hiding "caves": washed and cleaned clay pot, pvc pipe, plastic container (large yogurt container), etc. Preferably what ever you use is dark in color.
