I have a 75g tank with a cycled fx6 filter. I need to remove all the fish for maybe a week. Will the bacteria in the filter be okay or am I going to lose my cycle?

I would personally remove the bio media from the filter and place it in with your fish.

This problem is solved if I dont quarantine 3 new fish hopefully coming next week from COTA. I could just move the fx6 to the tank where that filter and fish will eventually end up anyways. I could move the fx6 over and then back to the 75 when those fish arrive but thats a pain. Are you saying to place the media in a bag and just soak it in the other tank that has fish?

Yes place bio media in a aquarium safe mesh bag and place it in with the fish. I wouldn't worry about putting the shrimp in. Other members may say different.

Yes if no problem with the aquarium with the fish in it you can safely place the bag of bio media and sponge in it.

If I understand your situation correctly ... you will be putting new fish into a separate quarantine tank but currently do not have filtration for that tank?

If so, I would put some of the established media from the fx6 into the quarantine tank using a mesh bag and add a sponge filter.
