Yes, I have been bitten by an African lungfish before. The one WAL I used to have got me while I was doing some cleaning; to give you an idea of their strength, I was able to lift it completely out of the water by my finger when it latched on. Luckily this was a little guy, so it didn't do any damage other than surprise me; a larger one could potentially do some damage and would certainly at least crush and cut your finger, if not take it off.

I had one that was stuck inside a fake log get pissy during extraction and try to attack me. He missed me but too a huge chunk our of the hard plastic log!

yeah when considering if I should get a ALF I read that they will take chunks out of tank mates and owners if given the opportunity. :WHOA:

"Yes" on the tankmates part; "maybe" on the owner part. For example, the other WAL I had liked being pet and made no attempts to eat my fingers. Hand feeding is still not suggested, though.

As mine grew his attitude grew with him. He was very docile toward me outside of feeding time, but after he hit about 2 feet he changed from hunting down his food to simply snapping at EVERYTHING in the tank (including rocks and wood) when food hit the water until he bit the right thing. He was nuts!
