Bad API Freshwater Test Kit?

Has anyone ever had a bad API freshwater test kit? Bad meaning you concluded that it was giving you incorrect results?

I have always wondered about this. With my kit I would test the water and get a OMFG!!!! result, then I would test it again and it would be where it should be and after testing a few more times decide it was okay.

yes.. my ammonia test went bad sometime in the last month or so... ive had it for over a year + however long it sat on the shelf...

You're not using the strips, right? Use the liquid kits.

The kits do expire and the #2 bottle for the nitrate test is well known to settle out.If its the nitrate test giving you bad results shake the hell out of it for like 10 min banging it on the table a few times in the process.

Yup....using the liquid master kit...I wonder how long my kit was sitting on the shelf for

i was told its best to keep the kit in the fridge they last twice as long once opened true or false?

ive had a bad ammonia bottle. man i went through ALOT of water and prime doing WC's until i figured out it was the test kit. the kit was well under the expiration date too.

Yep, that does happen, to buy a kit that has old liquids.
