Hi. I got a group of 16 demasoni in my 55g tank and some have bad baring. I was windering will the bad bard dems make bad babys?

They can, but you can get a wide variance even from good stock.

Are you planning on breeding and selling?

Don't thin out your group of 16.

bad bars are from inbreeding. try getting some new blood lines in there.

my local breeder trades and buys for tanks and fish all the time and i bought n traded for them from him. I think the f1 male is going to be the daddy of the holding females fry

That's not correct. Wild caught demasoni often have intersecting bars. A lot of breeders are selectively breeding the perfect bar demasoni. I learned this from a talk by Laif Demason at the Ohio Cichlid Extravaganza a few years ago.

it is a genetic trait but not all their fry will show bad barring. However, if you want to stop the trait then only breed ones that don't have it
