Hullo! I am in the very near future going to be moving all of my tanks to a different area in my home, and was wondering if there was any fine way to do this or what. Tehy are not moving very far and I have 7 5 gallon buckets. I was just going to drain the water into the buckets and into a bunch of bowls.

Try to keep about 20% of original water. Use it to move the rocks. Depending on how far you are moving, or them is when you should move them. If you are moving, move the tanks first, just to make it easier on you. After setting them up, get back to work, and leave them alone!!!!! No lights. If just moving the tanks around the houseshould be easy nuff, just leave the lights off for a few hours, or rest of the day. Moving is always stressful for you and the inhabitants, you may experience some type of loss. Oh and BTW, it will never look the same.

What the hell does that mean ! I am only moving them 15 feet, and I am going to keep all the water from the tanks. What are you talkin about that they will never look the same?

Sorry, didn't realise it said in home?, But I did post for both options. And it won't look the same as it does now. I have moved mine, and if you have to catch fish, you have to move rocks, that is what I meant. You can make it similar, but neve the same. Also, I do not know what size of tank, 7 5 gal buckets, and bowls is over 35 gal. I say keep 20% of the water cause you are gonna stir up alot of debris, so excellent time for water change. Plus anytime you remove most or all the water from the rocks some of the microverts die, so new water helps, but 20% is for the fish and rocks. The only difference between moving 15 ft, and moving 30 mins away is amount of time for the move.

Get a 32 gallon Brute Gargbage can with wheels. Get A pump that can do 200 gallons an hour. Siphon water into garbage can using pump. move tank, then use pump to put water back into tank after moving. Now you will also have something ta make saltwater in.

Got the carpet in early and moved my 75 and 55 last night, and it went pretty smooth a few complications with the squirrelfish, but nothin real bad. The water cleared up nicely and it took the water about an hour to clear up, and now both tanks look better than they did before.

Congrats, I am glad everything went smooth. Oh, and when I said they would never look the same, that didn't mean it would look worse, just different. But it is also a great time to reaquascape:)

I don't know why but it is weird because when I moved all the water I stired up a lot of crap from the argonite and I ran my protien skimmer and H.O.T Magnum on it while I moved the tanks and now the water in my 75 looks clearer then ever.
