Bad fishkeeper?

So my wife was with me on my trip to Petsmart to get prime and decided she wants a tinfoil barb for my 220G. Would I be a bad fish keeper if I bought her one? considering they are schooling fish?

I mean I can see from my bala's that when there is a school they are happier. When I had 5 bala's they where less skiddish then now when I only have 2 left. However they seem to enjoy theirselves now as long as my hand isn't in the tank; but i have had them for 2 years now.

Thoughts please good and bad.

i guess i am not to sensitive to schooling fish. Why not buy a couple? Or just one?

You would be the best person for these bug fish. Get 2 you know your average fish keeper that goes to petsmart does not have 200 gal. Any fish you get from there would feel like it won the lottery. Also then your wife will feel involved in part your hobby.

Do it anyone that keeps a 200+ gal aquarium can't be that bad of a fish keeper.

Thanks guys, I got the QT tank up last night, will stop at the store today and buy extra prime and a couple fish.

I wouldn't buy 1 or 2 unless you want a depressed fish. Go with at least 3. I would do 5+ personally.

I hate to say it, but I see them alone all the time and they look content and healthy. Normally I'd push for schooling numbers, but this species seems to do fine alone, like raphael cats.

good chance it/they will school w/ your Balas. I've seen this a few times.
