kennesaw, ga
yesterday and this morning have sucked for me. today our local club is having an auction plus im picking up a bunch of eartheaters. yesterday i cleaned tanks and moved stock around to make room for new fish. first i moved my datnoid and bichirs out of my 125g, into my 75g, to make it a strictly SA tank. from the 75g i moved my f0 crenicichla punctata blue 33 to the 125g and f0 red ceibal to my holding tank with gymnos since i was selling them all today.

it started off bad, my sveni pike started relentlessly chasing the punctata. i added a bunch of hiding spots and some pvc piping for hiding. we went to the movies and when we got home the punctata was dead :cry: easily my favorite fish. i had her since September and puller her back from a bad case of ich.

then this morning i wake up to find my dominant male gymno "quillero" destroyed by the red ceibal :irked: his tail was a stub and his gills were ripped apart. it sucks since i was going to be selling him at the auction today.

im bagging up the sveni to take to the auction even though i hadn't planned on it. i hopefully will find a new pike there or wait to see what MTN PIKE brings in in the next few weeks.

i always find it is a great risk to move fish around when the tanks have been stable for long periods of time.. it just causes havoc.. sorry for your loss..

yeah, its a tough call trying to mix pikes together. i never expected the red ceibal to be that aggressive though. oh well. this is my second pair of red ceibal i've try and i guess im just not cut out for them.

atleast my new fish will be more peaceful :D

That really sucks man. I just had to moved and down size from 7 to 4 tanks and it's ww3 in My 135.Have to find some of them a new home before I lose any

I try to keep only my favorite fish, one or two species, if you keep too many varieties you will have these losses.

same here and sometimes you have to make tough decisions and give up fish that you really don't want to part with but when you only have so many tanks what can you do. Its the impause buys that screw me up.

Yes, its tough trying to balance what you want to keep and what you can keep, given tanks space limitations and species compatability. Sorry for your loss.

well now the tank should be nice and peacfull. i picked up 5 S. daemon, 3 G. altifron 'Tapajos', and 5 M. festivus to go with my 2 severums and psittacus

Bummer losing the fish. Yeah that sounds like a nice peaceful mix, as long as you didn't get a nasty festivum. One of mine was pretty evil for awhile, he's finally settling down but for awhile he was chasing the other festivum and all the jurupari (mine are actually M. acora).

they dont seem bad. i got 4 smaller ones, 2.5-3" from peter(peathenster) and a large 4.5" one in a separate tank for now. the large one is in with one of the altifrons and is so far so good
