I bought some crawdads from my LFS last week and the first one to molt had this weird white blotch and all around it the carapace is wrinkled. What is it?

That looks really nasty....I'm asking about it on another forum so I hope to have some info for you soon....
There are also some feathery looking things being pushed out between the tail and body, but they are not swimmeretes. I assume this will ge better by the next molt. I have seen molts that have worms all over the carapace from low water quality.
Ok....here's the go.....
They are the crays gills that have somehow formed on the outside of it's body.
If you keep it safe from other crays/fish etc.....and it goes unharmed, it will continue to live and correct the fault as it grows/moults......
