well as of sunday around 5:00 pm my area had a power outage. i have spent all day trying to find a generator any thing to help with my situation. i found two batteries operated water pumps for my rubbermaids. and have two tanks with nothing for them just found a bait pump but i can not find batteries for the pump.this is due to the storm in Texas and supposable i may not have electric for a few more days. it gets better i had order another ray and it came in today i was hoping for a cancellation due to the storm but unfortunately it came in it is so frustrating i am seeing people with electric a block away yet mine is not up. weather is cooling down and temp is dropping. i am just sick to my stomach and so upset that i am not prepared for something like this. i don't think they are going to make it . even if electric comes on soon my filters are shot. i am so sad i have put so much time and energy into keeping rays and a lot of hard work to fund them.

That sucks I know what you mean yesterday was crazy wind for around here.

hopw you find something to keep them warm.

Why would all your filters be shot if the power come back on?

Hope everything works out...

Wrap your tank in blankets and cover them up tightly! Do you have hot water available? If so throw containers of hot water in your tank to help the temp!

ouch man that sucks,
hope power comes on soon. :iagree:
try and keep blankets around the tank/tanks or anything like an emergency blanket to hold in the heat. might try boiling some water? fire always works for that if you got an electric hotwater heater :) heh

hope all turns out well, keep us posted

Use the hot water in the form of water changes to keep temp up. You need a dc to ac converter! Run a dropcord from your car! Shouldn't take a huge one to run filters.

well everyone survived the cold however ammonia spikes are out of hand did some water changes for temp, oxygen, and clean water and retested water ammonia every were.

good to hear they all lived! here in southern ohio we lost our power for 23 hours.. i keep two huge tanks of african cichlids-i also used those cheap battery run air pumps.. and had no losses.. though i did have a spike in nitrItes- a waterchange and everyone is happy again..

good to hear the rays all pulled through!

^ heh the amount of power drop you would encounter would render that useless, but good thought
