So i had a 12" and 10" florida gar. Wed night i come home to one missing. My gf says she heard a strange sound coming from the tank and stand hours before i got home but just thought it was the jag and tsn going at it. I look around the tank and to my surprise im missing a gar. I got home around 5 she heard the noise around 1230-1. So i start to break down the tank so i can get behind it. Its a 180 built into the stand that holds my 415. after i get it moved so i can get behind it. He isnt there, how he jumped from a covered tank i have no idea. And the jag and tsn stomachs dont look as if they ate a 10 gar. Than i notice a small void where he could have flopped into but i dont see how, And at this point its been about 6 hours since she heard all the noise. I figure i ve went this far might as well get the saw a cut the bottom out and just see if he is there. Pry the piece off and low and behold there he is covered in dust, dirt, and now saw dust. I hurry up and take some fresh tank water in a 10g and try to get him cleaned off he isnt dry yet, i was amazed. Thursday he loooked fine and was moven around and had gotten his color back fri looked great Fri night i got him to eat some shrimp. This mourning i hate to say it it, he didnt make it. I did everything i kno that could have been done. I was going to move them all to the 415 Monday on my day off. Now my other gar looks lonely and out of place. Looks like im be in the market for another, since it took me 3 months to find the 2 i had around my area. I still cant figure how he jumped from a completely covered tank, that part is still baffling to me.
