Hello,

I have a pair of convicts set up in a 20 gallon grow out tank that has been converted to just a convict tank. Well the pair I have spawn continually but the fry never live. I have been waiting and waiting just like most would recommend "They will get a hang of it eventually." They are on their, most likely 10+ spawn right now with many fry but never once has their been an adult to come from them. The female is about 1.5-2" and the male is probably 2.5-3". He is the dominant male in the tank and she is the only female I believe or the only one that spawns. The only other things that are in the tank are 2 small blood parrots (.5-0.75") and 3 other smaller convicts. Is there anything I can do to help them be better parents or will it take them a bit more time to get the hang of it?

Thanks:D

Either get rid off all the other fish outside of the spawning pair, or heavily upscale your feeding / water change regime. You need to either move the fry to a new tank, or overfeed the parents to the point where they think defending them is biologically worthwile. When you get there, they'll take over 4/5th of your tank, and the fry will have a chance to live. You'll still need more space regardless.
