i got an order of iguanas in thursday. i noticed that one had big hard thick spots on its tail, back and neck. these spots were so think and hard that they were crackining. i soaked him in warm water for an hour and it softened up. i scratched at one spot and part of it came off like a scab. leads me to think that the poor guy hasn't sheaded properly for a loooong time. any ideas or suggestions as to get this build up of old skin off of him?

i'll try tp post picks soon

Boy, he dosen't look good. I think he might lose his tail. You could definely give him a daily soaking in some warm water for about half an hour. But there's still hope. His eyes look pretty alert. Looks like he really needs food and water. Good luck with the little guy!

wow i think he should be by himself for healing, try dusting his food with exo terra Electrodize.it is good for reptile trying to heal.

I saw something like this on Emergency Vets the other day. This iguana had some kind of degenerative disease that was basically killing the tissue in its tail and continued to move toward the rest of the body. They had to amputate the tail. I'm not saying that's what this is, but it looks similar and is probably worth a trip to the vet to find out.

Not sure about the spots/scabs, but definitely get that guy under some UVB lighting stat! It will help him heal.
