First a series of shots of my deformed rescue longear. The LFS had pulled him from the sales tanks and had him in the back. They were "waiting to see" about him.
So I adopted him! He was free. His tail is bent and atrophied, so the mollies can outrun him pretty easily. His left and right sides look like different fish. Different sized eyes, ear flaps, etc. He's actually a great example of what can go wrong with DNA transcription...
Now for shots from the gang in the 125g. If you can confirm or positively refute my guess of Green X Pumpkinseed, please do. I'll put the shots of the pure green sunfish first. He's a bruiser and has recently made a game of trying to get at the other male, who hides in a jar. That's how he got the nicks on his head. By being a bully. He's about six inches long.
Now for the others. The most visible difference from pure green sunfish is the raised ear flaps. Others include the ruby jewels at the flap apex and rounder body shape of several from this brood. Enough talk. More photos. Pardon the poo. I fed heavily yesterday and do my netting in the evening, but they apparently had more in store for me this morning.
