So I got given a yellow acara yesterday by my friend as a surprise present, which is thoughtful etc, except that I now have a dilemma.

Had to store the little guy (1 inch) in my 55 with my JD and convict. Those two have a mutual toleration of each other, but I'm worried the acara may suffer when the JD has her freak out moments from time to time.

The other tank I have is very peaceful, with 3 fancy goldfish sitting at about room temperature. I'm debating setting the temp at 24ish and growing the acara in there.

Thoughts?

How about retaining the Acara in the main tank with the JD and convict and provide some hiding spaces for the new joinee.
I suggest this only to the fact that the Acara might start going after your fancy gold shortly after introducing.
By the way , how big are your JD and convict.

Good suggestion, will see if I can find something to fit in. JD is 4 inches, convict 3.5 inches :)
