Hello,

i traded my Florida gar for a motoro stingray!
the gar was hurting himself in my tank trying to jump out!
when i got the ray his disc was red and his hips where visible
the ray stung the net where he was captured in at the shop..
and now 3 days later his sting is covered with fungus!

the shop gave me some medication but the fungus is still on his tale and spreading
for as far as i can see it looks like the disc become white

anyone any idea of what i can do?
and what medication would work best against fungus?
and what can i do when his disc is still red?

http://killerfishphotos.blogspot.com/p/stingray-photos.html here is a pic of the disc!

Have you checked your water parameters? What size tank is the motoro in, it doesn't look very big from the pictures. This disk irritation can be caused by stress, a sharp substrate, and poor water conditions to name a few. Is the motoro eating?

Binox from Jungle Labs is a fungus medication reportedly safe for rays but I have not tested it myself.

The motoro is eating very good!
I tested my water and it is just fine

The tank is about 300g if im correct
but the pic is the box where he is in now with some medication the store gave me

I dont think it looks irritated at all. This purple\light pink color is normal when the are young. About the fungus, cant see it, not good enough pic. Melafix can also be used. But the best threatment with fungus is very clean water! Feed her well, and do weakly waterchange, and it probably will turn out good.

Binox is ray safe, I have used it a couple of times. It is basically nitrofurazone and salt. What kind of medicine did they give you?

melafix is a waste of money to be honest. there's much better out there on the market that will actually help heal infections, wounds, etc.

It that ray laying up against a heater in the pic?

that's what i thought too, i noticed the suction cups on either side of its disc.

If the ray is in the box, and has been in there for some time, I would get him out and place him in the tank. Being in that box is like being shipped which means his water quality will not be good. He would do better in the tank.
If you keep him in the box, make sure he gets freshwater changes daily. About 40% I would think, (any ideas on that guys?)

What is the med they gave you?
We really could help you better if you get a closer pic of the area thats infected and has the fungas on it.
When it got cought in the net, did it get cut in anyway?
Did the stinger get pulled enough that it broke the skin around the stinger?

In the shop the stinger broke in the net and the tail was bleeding!
and then about 3 days in the main tank the fungus was getting al over the tail!

im not sure what med the store gave me!
they told me to put it in the water wait 5 days and then place the ray back in the main tank
but after 2 days in the med the tail was covered in fungus for about 75%
now i added some regular sea salt 1gr on 1 liter and it looks like the fungus has gone away overnight!

Not sure if i should put her back in the main tank right away or let her swim in the salt for one more day..

on the pic she is laying up against my pump outlet? not sure how to call it in english..
there aint no heaters in my tank ^^

the ray is back in the main tank now!
but the fungus is still on his stinger!
i'm not really sure what to do now
in les then a weak there will be some building taking place in the house forcing me to empty my tank completely
and a week after that i'm gonna try and make a overflow sump maybe this is all to stressful for the ray..
the only place where i can put her for this time is at a friends tank witch contains a few scobinas and some cichlas

i dont now if fungus is able to go away by itself in good water conditions..
cuz then i can wait this week out and hope for it to go away..
