Sorry to hear this..
Any theories on what occured with the Cuban Gar?

no idea but it was acting funny the 3 days before, like shaking its head randonly and was very wobbly when swimming. There are 2 other cubans as well as a trop and longnose in there with no probs so....? checked the marameters and perfect.

sounds like the Cuban may have injured itself by hitting against something as well...i have had Cubans do this (large ones) and they went through these seizure like symptoms for several days before they actually died. this could theoretically happen with any gar, but i have noticed Cubans are quite sensitive with these things.

you said you checked your water parameters, what is your current pH? this is often overlooked with water parameters (as we often check nitrogen based compounds), but important with gars, especially Cubans. either way, sorry for your losses, i can definitely sympathize with losing those fishes--
