ok Ladies and Gents i drove 12 hours each way to do a rescue mission to try and save a large (20")female Motoro.I left yesterday morning spent a night then got up this morning. I have the male in my 8footer and she is in the pond as of and hour ago, She is in with my 23" TSN in a 500gal pond but only filler to 300gal ATM the TSN which im not worried about him hurting her the tsn is calm but im pretty sure the previous owners water had to be bad cause the (12") Male has what looks like to be Ammonia burn himself but she is pretty bad from what i seen when we netted her out. So i really need to know how much salt to use also the Fact that the TSN is in there aswell. I bought 4kg (8.8lbs) of Aquarium salt but i dont want to add till i know more ive never used salt before. The female has not ate for awhile and is very skiny i can see her triangular pelvic bones but not the ribs she had her last batch of pups 4 months ago, she has no outter disk bites or damage all on her underside. I really hope i can save her she is such a gorgeous ray and i have alot of time and some money invested into this gal ---- Thanks in advance

300 gals = 4.2 Kg of salt.Looks and sounds a lot but this is the dose ive used for many years with terrific results.

This works out at half ounce per gallon.
Like Dookie says the water its in needs to be of high quality first and fore most...biologically stable.
Good luck!

3 lbs / 100 gallons... essentially the same as aquaman45's suggestion. Make sure you use a good quality salt that does NOT contain iodine or other additives.

if shes eating u prob dont need salt, just nice clean water

salt wont hurt though...

In most cases these wounds will heal without any medication, but taking into account this ray has been caught from its original tank and endured a 12 hour journey then subjected to a difference in water parameters then like already stated by Vamptrev....salt cant do any harm,it could certainly go a long way towards combating secondary infections.
All the best!
