I was at the LFS and I saw this tank that was full of african cichlids and their fins looked like they were almost glowing, as if under a black light. It was a really cool looking blue light that really made the colors of the fish really intense. I looked under the hood and there were two white 48" florescent bulbs and two blue 48" bulbs. I asked the lackey working there what they were but he didn't know. Can anyone tell me what they might have been?

I bought a T5 48" light that does the same thing. Its just one bluish bulb and one white one though.
its 48"colormax full spectrum & 6700k plant lamps by coralife

some cheap actinic blubs 7100k really bring out some nice colors

i find that most lights in the 7000 to 8000k range do the same

I'm voting actinic. it will bring out lots of colors, but it's usually not that bright and it's only good as suplimental light.
