For my current set up, please see below.
I am planning on adding either a school of dwarf loaches or 1-3 badis fish.

The badis are small so it won't take much of the bio load, while I think the dwarf loaches will push my bio load to the limit. However, I think dwarf loaches are harder to come by and would be a better addition. Thoughts?

Your bioload would be fine with both IMO if the stock below is all of your fish. Badis only have the draw back of needing to be target fed as they are pretty slow.

I say get 3 Badis and 6-8 sidthimunki.

Although I just checked your other posts and it mentions Severums. I would then not get the Badis as they would end up becoming food as they stay very small and are very slow. I am not sure about how the Loaches and the Severums will get along but Loaches are fast and tough so they should be fine.

Have any pics of the setup?

I appreciate the input!

Here is a picture of the setup, I hope it's clear enough. I took it tonight(it was their nap time but turned on actinics for the picture). I will post with the lights on tomorrow if you want. BTW this is my first tank so my aquascaping might be a little weird still. It's 6 months old now and I have made so many changes/updates. I am happy where it's going but definitely needs more work for the natural look. The water lilies(nymphaea stellata) have just been put in and are in the front right corner and back right(where the driftwood ends at the right to cover the blank space), I hope they thrive! So many more plans for it, but enough of that... :)

The SAEs school with the roseline sharks really well(when the SAEs aren't busy feeding on algae). There are a few tanks in the house and the severums are all in the 240g tank now. I decided for the 75g tank to be S.E. Asian tank(plants and fish).

I'm pretty sure I'll get 3 badis, if my LFS has that many at least(1male 2females); they said they'll have them on Wednesday. I'm not sure on the sidthimunkis since there might be too much traffic at the bottom part of the tank though.

I'm happy to hear your opinions!

Your setup looks nice.

Aquascapes are a personal thing so I avoid giving specific advice.

If its a pure SE tank maybe get more Crypts and Java fern. Thats about the max of my input.

As for the fish I don't see any issues with your stocking scheme. I think the Botia/Loaches would actually be great. My only concern as always is that Badis are very small and can easily get bullied and out muscled for food. I have seen them kept with SAE and the Sidthimmunki(dwarf chain loach) before without an issue. I haven't seen them mixed with the Denosoni/Rosielines but I think its worth a shot.

Good luck and post some updates once you add fish.

....MARIMO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I say get yoyo loach oh wait...might be too agressive for your rummynose... Have you thought of German blue rams? They're pretty small and peaceful and would do well in your set up i think :)

Going back on my little outburst from above....how is your marimo so green? How tall is your tank? Mine turned brown after a few days... ;cry;

(accidentally posted twice...sorry!)

Thanks for the praise :)

The java fern is still new to my tank(if you look closely they are ziptied to the driftwood) and I'm still checking if it will live or not. I read it NEEDS low light so if you look at the night picture, there's a cardboard blocking the light directly above it. I will add more of the fern right above/behind the one currently in there to fill the middle area if it does live. As for the crypt, it requires rich gravel but my substrate is 75% gravel 25% flourite(I did not anticipate this much plants for my tank). It's not out of the question but I will consider it for the future. I have gone through a number of plants already and what's currently there are the ones that have survived.

You're right about them being possible food though, but I am optimistic also just like you! I'm not sure whether to add the loaches b/c my substrate is neither soft nor sandy. Is that a big concern?

I am now acclimating the badis(I got 4 of them) and they are so tiny!

:nilly:

I wanted the blue rams definitely, but I'm only keeping southeast asian species in this 75g tank. Maybe I'll start a 20g planted tank with them in it

My 75g tank is 20" tall I believe. My marimo is green b/c I fertilize water, have a DIY CO2 setup, and probably my lighting(my light intensity is around medium according to this website's formula). I don't think marimo needs strong light though.

If you have a high spot in your tank, you don't necessarily have to put it on the ground, rather you can put it somewhere close to the top to receive some light better(above driftwood or an ornament for example[then tie it down or something lol]). Just my opinion, not sure if it will work :)

Now we're even... :naughty:
