I have two baby red devils in a 55 gallon tank. They've been together all of their lives...about a year. One of them recently began to chase the other. No biting, however the shyer fish hid behind and was burned by the aquarium heater. I've never had that happen before. The skin on his sides peeled off in a day or two leaving raw meat that is pink in color. They are now separated and I've treated the damaged fishes tank with some aquarium salt and half dose of antibiotics as a precaution. He is active and eats, but not much. What else should I do? A burned fish is new to me. The area is roughly 2/3rds of his body on both sides. Should I kill him or continue to see if he heals?

Update, as per Tom's (Aquanero's) advice, the fish seems to be doing very well. There is a lot of action and he is searching for food and acting like his old self. Also, his wounds seem to be already very healed. The salt? Kind of amazing, the transformation!
