right now its half full with now baffels or bracing with no bowing at all. do you think if i rough cut acrylic and then used a tone of silicone it would stay intact? or should i just buy a 10 gallon its only for a 29 gallon tank in th end any way.
Use multiple boxes joined with bulkheads at high and low alternating points! For example. Say you want a 50 gallon sump. Just use (3) or (4) 15 gal tubs and connect them with bulkheads. For the cheap, make the bulkheads with this method: http://www.cichlid-forum.com/articles/diy_bulkheads.php
So you can have the first tub be mech (do an upflow style mech) then on the top/output side, bulkhead into the second tub using pvc, drill holes to create a spray bar to spray down over the bio media, then on the low output side of the bio box, bulkhead into the sump for the heaters and pump(s). IMO...
Theres ALL sorts of sizes of plastic totes out there. Look in the dollar stores, Big Lots, Wal-mart, lowes, home dumpster. etc. A couple different brands out there all with different sizes etc.
I'll be posting a how to on this exact method in about a week or two if you want to wait. Otherwise, jump in and post pics of your creation!
okay well i am going to hd soon i will look for things for a sump. i still need to build a 10 gallon tank stand and a platform under the 30 to hold what ever sump i make.
actually if you build a 1x3 frame arround the tub you can silicone baffles in there and they will hold and not blow apart cause the frame will hold the tub...
For all the things listed, you dont really need baffles. Just stick everything all in together in the same section. You dont need to direct water flow through any specific path for the things your doing here.
If you have your heart set on baffles then use the tub as outer waterproofing and make up some glass/arcrylic boxes to sit loosely inside. Theres no need to fasten them to the tub and they dont need to be waterproof.
