When making a wet dry what do you guys use as the baffles? Plexiglass or acrylic? How do you cut it?

i used glass but if i were to do it over, would use acrylic for 2 reasons:

glass can break, 1 of mine broke (i used glass panel from lowes, which was kinda on the thin side)
glass panel are very sharp on the edge, got cut a couple times taking stuff out of the sump.

Ive used glass and acrylic. Glass is easier to cut using a glass cutter. Once cut, I would slide the sharp side on the concrete floor to sand the sharp edges.

Arylic looks better and is lighter, also way better for modifications, JMO (add holes etc...).

You should be able to search plastic's in your local area and possibly take your sump so the place your buying from can cut you a piece (JMO).

in all honestly it depends on the material of your sump, if you have a glass tank then go with glass and if you have acrylic then go acrylic. just remember if you go too thin on the glass you risk breaks, if you dont sand the edges of the glass you risk cuts. Acrylic, if its too thin you run into bowing, and you want to glue it instead of using Silicone.

the reason you want to match the materials is b.c they both expand and contract at different rates and temperatures. You risk breaks or dislodging of panels. Have fun =)

I agree 100%. I used plex in a glass sump and now have to tear down and rebuild b/c the silicone did not hold the plex. To get rid of the sharp edges on the glass I use a diamond sharpening stone, one pass and done. If you decide to go with plex, to cut, simply score several times with a razor knife and snap, be sure to score deep enough or it wont break where you want. Check youtube for some videos on how to. good luck
