Just got me an awesome bag of babies! They had "Zaire Blue" frontosa fry at my LFS from the same parents as a fish I'd gotten my overall favorite cichlid I own from, and I couldn't resist! There goes the wallet!

The other one I raised turned into a really gorgeous F1 and has just overall been an awesome fish, so I can't wait to see how these guys turn out!

Those are kick ass! :D How much did you pay for them if you don't mind me asking?

They were 3/$99 and I got 6, heh. I know, crazy to spend on babies that small knowing that they might not all make it, but goddamn if they aren't the cutest thing I've ever seen.

I focus more on the Haps, but do have a growing interest in Fronts, well maybe just one for my tank of large haps. I was surprised to find all the different types and what values ($) were associated with what collection points. I noticed this awesome importer in GA had WC 1 7" male + 5 4" females for like $980 which were of your variety. Is it safe to say the Zaire Blue are the rarest right now and one of the prettiest? Its def worth the price if you love them!

It's not even the rarity or the looks (although these babies are less than an inch long and they already practically glow purple under the pink light of the tank), but I've grown a fish with the same parents from 2-8'' or so thus far, and he is by far my favorite cichlid. They are just really amazing unique fish with really cool, inquisitive personalities.

From bag to basket! Put them in here cause they're so small the other fish in my growout seemed like they could threaten em. Kind of proud of my solution. Put a couple pieces of lava rock and some plastic plants in there and they seem to be doing great! I wish I could see them better through the basket, but I checked this morning just after taking the pic, and all 6 are alive and well--showing unstressed colors.

Sorry for the poor photo/cloudy water, I'd just put some ultimate water conditioner in before the pic.

lol it looks awesome :D Good idea! Maybe get a small critter keeper type thing or a 10 gallon for a temporary grow out tank? :D
