i was wondering if anyone else on this forum was keepin this species of catfish? how many do you have? hows your tempermant? what do you keep it with?? mine killed a green spot pleco. and they chew up the stomachs of the feeders. and they swim weird. hahaha their a nice catfish. j/w who else had these.

I currently have a large Bagarius yarrelli:

but have kept bagarius bagarius also...these are not aggressive at all and very hard to differentiate when under 9" from a yarrelli....so if your guy is eating tankmates...odds are you have a bagarius yarrelli which are very predatory and reach approx 7ft....bagarius bagarius only obtain 8-9" and are very mellow cats.....you may find some info here also:

thanks. nothing in my tank ever messed with the pleco or did that to the feeders. until i put two of those suckers in though. so i thought they were the suspects.

i wonder if it can eat a hard body/exsoskeloton like body like the royal pleco?

i have a 3-4 inch one right now. pretty tame right now *knock on wood*
i had it in a smaller 60g with couple dats and it was fine. then with a lizard fish and it was fine also. now he is in 100g geophagus tank with the lizard fish and so far this is it has been fine. sometimes i even catch the 2 next to each other. Hopefully i get lucky and it stays tamed and plays nice with others fishes.

pretty much doesnt move much. it just lays around near driftwoods and hides all day.

Glad they stay mellow. Really like this cat and hate to have to get rid of because it is killing its tankmates.

every bagarius bagarius I have kept are very lethargic and cool with tankmates...they also max out around 8-9"....you will know if you have a bagarius yarrelli..they are voracious and pack on approx 1-2" per month and tolerate nothing...both that I have kept and still have my larger one were very aggressive...nothing like the b. bagarius except for looks...both are great cats depending on which side of the tank you want to take and one of the few that you have your choice: big and aggressive=b. yarrelli /small and tolerates tankmate=b. bagarius:)
