Hey guys, I live in Colorado but I'm visiting Houston right now. I went to a pretty nice lfs here and I wanted to bring some fish back with me, anybody have any advice? Has anyone done this before? Whats the process? Pack and baggage check? Or parcel?

you fly or drive? If you flew i would prob come home then have the guy ship them. If you drove i would drive them home :) thats just me though

i agree with above but if your flying i would bring em on board as a carry on i dont see why they wouldnt let you . last time i traveled to florida i brought my 4' iguana with with a little reptile carrier with it didnt really stay in for the flight cause he was kind of big for it but they allowed me to bring him to bring him on board.

You should just call the airline and ask just in case htey have some outrageous fees.

I wouldn't try the carry-on, you can't even bring a bottle of water past the check point and you think the TSA will let you through with fish? They might think it's some new type of bomb...

lol ya you could have a bomb in your tetra or whatever fish your getting. jk guess i shouldn't joke about bombs :(

If you have proof of purchase from a store there shouldn't be a problem. Call ahead of time just so they are aware of it

When you find out, let us know, and please mention which airline. I'm trying to decide if I should drive or fly in a few months, and the idea of driving is appealing because of the fish potential where I'm going. If I could put them in my carry on, I'd rather fly us there.

i didnt know about that i've havent traveled in a while but if they see its an animal they might let you slide i know they did when i went with my iguana cause one of the works was trying to take it from me and wanted to have it mailed back to ny but their boss let me go as long as he was in the carrier . while on the plane.

The water is the issue here, anything more than 4oz, is going to bring attention from the TSA.

Best to call them to ask at the airport you're traveling. It seems like they have different interpretion of the rules at different airports...
