I hopefully am going to lancaster,pa tomorrow if all goes well to visit Thatpetplace. When I come home with fish will they be okay in a bag for 2-3 hours. Any advice is welcome. Hopefully I'll be arriving home with more bichirs.

should be fine, just make sure its a large bag with lots of o2. i personally like using a container with a power inverter and an air pump

Should be fine.

I was just there on friday. The small bichirs are cute.

PS you could probably score a 125 setup up there for $900.00 or even less. Pretty sure I saw some display setups priced less than that and even peicing together tank/stand/etc it should be less than that.

I either use the inverter/air pump method or if the fish is small enough, just bag with O2. I have kept fish alive in bags for 24 hours.

Had a 10" pleco do 8-9 hrs in styro with airstone/inverter. All went well. Had another 10" pleco do 5 hours bagged and in a styro with no aeration. That one did just as well as the first.

yeah, as long as they fill the bag with O2, they will be fine. the biggest concern this time of year is just the temp. Other than that, they'll be fine

Thanks for the convincing help everyone.

You should be fine mate, somtimes when we get fish sent from singapore or germany they can be in the bags for 24hrs+ and with lots of fish crammed in too. Best thing to do is ensure that they are in a bag plenty big enough and double or tripple bag them as they will help keep heat in. The bag to hold its shape and should the fish puncture it, it shouldnt leak.

If your picking up bichirs i wouldnt worry too much as air breathers seem to move better and tolerate poorer waterquality aswell.

Since they are airbreathers you shouldnt be using 100% pure oxygen as this can burn them. Aim for approx 50% oxygen by leaving some air in the bag before adding the O2. ie dont deflate the bag totally. The same applies for corydoras, labyrinth (Gourami) , siamese fighters, snakeheads etc. Most fish shops will already know this.

More important is to fast the fish at least 24 hours before travel by not feeding. You could add some chemical ammonia binders like PRIME or CHLORMON too if the fish are particularly large.
