well I was going to get some feeder fish today for my Skinny IT that wont eat anything else BUTTTTTT it is a freaking holiday and the pet stores or closed....

now he is just sitting there staring at stuff i guess waiting for a fish to swim by, hopefully he can wait till tomorrow...

sorry just frustrated that he wont eat and thought I would share.

My Thin Bars wouldn't except any food of any kind for well over a month. I ended up giving them live shrimp once a week (just enough to keep them alive) then added frozen prawn until they finally excepted it. Since then have been able to introduce all types of different food items

Just semi starve it. Not come across a Dat yet that has starved to death. They all eat in the end. Helps if there are others in the tank to learn from, compete with.

well if it safe to starve him I will do that.

Well I have a AT and a Leopard Ctenopoma who all kinda hang out together with a few other fish...

my biggest concern is that he is skinny now...

I found Dats like to learn from others, if you hold back on feeding the rest of the tank, when food is introduced there will be some competition which might make your new Dat go for the food.

I have also held food in front of the Dats mouth, almost pushing it in, the Dat took the food this way as a way of learning whats food.

I worried for ages that my Dats had not eaten, in the end I almost gave up trying, then they all started taking food.

Keep an eye on the Dats condition. If fins are all ok, no cloudy eye, then should be ok to starve a little longer until gets hungry enough to take non live food.

one of the pectoral fins is slightly damaged but that was from the AT now they get a long fine...
